Three people. Unfinished business.
nineplanfailed are a three-piece post-punk band from South Wales, making angular, rhythm-driven music built around driving basslines, jagged guitars, synths and dual vocals. We're as interested in melody as we are in making a racket.
We started making music together in the early 2010s, releasing our debut EP through Death Monkey Records and playing wherever anyone would have us. Eventually, life got in the way, enthusiasm faded and we quietly stopped.
We never fell out. We just got on with other things.
Years later, a catch-up turned into a rehearsal, another rehearsal, and the realisation that we still enjoyed making music together. More importantly, we still had things to say.
We're older now, with different experiences and perspectives, but just as curious about what we can create together.
Our approach is simple: make the best songs we can with what we've got. Being a three-piece doesn't mean every song has to sound like one. If something needs six minutes and a load of synthesisers, that's what it gets. If the next one needs two minutes and no guitar, that's fine too.
Our songs touch on control, identity, masculinity and the stranger, sometimes uncomfortable aspects of everyday life. We don't feel the need to explain every lyric or tell people what to think.
Since returning, we've been recording, releasing music and playing live, working with producer Joe Gibb (The Cure, Depeche Mode, Wire) and finding new audiences along the way.
We're not trying to recreate the band we were fifteen years ago. We're interested in what we can make now.
We reckon our songs deserve to exist. Hopefully, you'll agree.
